Vein Filter Extraction Tool Concept (Personal Work)

This project was an attempt to redesign a forceps tool to give it an additional joint of articulation. Although it proved impractical and was not further developed, I became fascinated with the design of these tools, and developed this working prototype on my own in order to test one of the mechanical concepts that was never developed during the project.

Although it is too complex and large to work for a small handheld tool, the mechanism is interesting and I chose to display the internal components with a transparent structural frame. The mechanism serves as a way for the two joints to move independently without affecting each other due to the changes in the cable length.
